Youth injured in Indian shelling

SIALKOT, March 3: A villager sustained severe injuries in Indian shelling in Khariyal village, Charwa sector of the Sialkot working boundary on Sunday.

Official sources told Dawn that 25-year-old Omar Hayat was sitting in the courtyard of his house when the bullets hit him. He was admitted to the local Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in precarious condition.

The Indian security forces continued intensified firing in Chhumb, Joriyaan, Bajwat, Charwa and Akhnor sectors, disrupting the sowing of the sunflower and watermelon crops.

Two Indian armymen also sustained injuries when the Chenab Rangers retaliated near the Chhumb sector, the sources confirmed.

INJURED: Three children and two women were among the seven injured in Basant-related accidents in various parts of the district on Sunday.

Three people Aslam, Khalid and Samuel fell from the roofs of their houses while trying to catch at kites in Cantonment area.

Adil and Sultan were knocked down by a speeding car when they tried to reach at twine in Model Town while two women fell from their car in an attempt to catch the twine from the windows in Uggoki. They received severe injuries.

All the injured were admitted to various hospitals in critical condition.

There was a great hullabaloo all day long amid violation by people on using metal wires, chemical strings and loud-speakers.
