BAHAWALPUR, June 10: Some 23 activists of various opposition parties, who have been arrested during the recent crackdown by the police across Punjab, have been shifted to the central jail, Bahawalpur.

It is learnt that the activists detained for three months under section 3 MPO have been brought mostly from the districts of central Punjab.

Those shifted here include PML-N’s councillors from Lahore namely Lala Anwar, Shahid Khan, Shuja Butt, Jawad Akhtar Butt, Sheikh Farooq Ahmad, and ex-councillor Dilbar Shah and MMA secretary-general (Rahim Yar Khan) Fatehullah.

Meanwhile, ten local activists of the PML-N and the MMA have been shifted to the Dera Ghazi Khan jail to be detained for three months.
