LAHORE, June 8: Around 800 Sikh pilgrims arrived here on Friday by a special train from India on a 10-day visit to attend the 401st death anniversary of Guru Arjun Dev Gee.

Officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board accorded a warm welcome to the pilgrims on their arrival at the Wagah railway station.

Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Sardar Bishen Singh was also present.

The visitors, led by Raghbir Singh Saharan Majra, member Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, will leave for Nankana Sahib and later Panja Sahib, Hassanabdal, to perform their religious rituals.

They will return to Lahore to attend the death anniversary of Guru Arjun Dev Gee at Gurdwara Dera Sahib on June 16.

The guests are also scheduled to celebrate ‘Jor Mela’ on June 17 and will return to India the same day.

Talking to newsmen, group leader Raghbir Singh said the ongoing process of friendship between the two countries should continue to promote love, peace and harmony among the peoples of India and Pakistan.

He said trade between the two countries would be beneficial for the people.—APP
