PESHAWAR, Oct 20: Former senator Bashir Ahmad Matta on Saturday withdrew his resignation he tendered earlier from the membership of Awami National Party, after a special committee led by provincial chief of ANP Begum Naseem Wali Khan met him.

Mr Matta had resigned from the basic membership as well as from the post of chairman, Foreign Affairs Committee of the ANP. He had not cited any reason for his resignation.

However, his resignation was not accepted by the ANP’s president, Asfandyar Wali Khan.

Apart from Begum Naseem Wali Khan, the committee comprised Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Fareed Toofan, Syed Bilal Shah, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Syed Aqil Shah.

The information secretary of the party, Syed Bilal Shah, claimed that the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. He said that the committee removed misunderstandings between Mr Matta and the party, adding that finally Mr Matta was convinced to withdraw his resignation.
