KARACHI, June 5: The Pakistan Seniors Tennis Association (PSTA) conducted its quadrennial elections in the city on Tuesday and among others inducted people having no background of the game.
According to the details made available here, Khawaja Saeed Hai and Khalid Rehmani were re-elected as president and secretary respectively in the general body meeting which was held after a lapse of many years.
Hai, who is a former Davis Cupper, already hold the posts of chairman of selectors Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), senior vice-president PTF, president Sindh Tennis Association (STA) and president International Club (IC).
As for Rehmani, he is joint secretary PTF and secretary STA in addition to the post of secretary PSTA.
No less than five people were accommodated as senior vice-presidents which include former PTF secretary Munir Pirzada, Justice Ejaz Yousuf, Jamal Mirza, Gulzar Firoz and Iftikhar Rao.
The three vice-presidents are Reza Ali Mirza, Khawaja Masroor and Mohammad Jalal.
The post of treasurer goes to S.A. Afzal while joint secretaries are Zahid Husain, Safina Hameed, Mumtaz Yousuf and one to be inducted from Punjab later.
The Executive Committee consists of J.Y. Qamar, Irshad Syed, Col Ejaz and Commander Alam. One lady will be inducted later.
All the office-bearers were elected unopposed.
The meeting decided that Pakistan will feature in Indian Seniors tennis championship being held at Hyderabad in Oct.
It was further decided to hold one world ranking and four National Seniors champion-ships in the second half of this year.
