CHANTILLY (France), June 4: Frankie Dettori, his Epsom Derby ghost laid firmly to rest, returned immediately to the classic fray on Sunday, partnering 4-1 favourite Lawman to victory in the French Derby at Chantilly.

On Saturday, brilliant colt Authorized scooted home five lengths clear of Eagle Mountain to give Dettori his first Epsom Derby success after 14 previous failures dating back to 1992.

Just over 24 hours later, the Italian made all the running on Lawman to win the French equivalent, the Prix du Jockey Club, with Literato leading home the rest of the 20-strong field.
