ISLAMABAD, June 4: The newly-elected Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Punjab President, Khalid Randhawa, has asked the provincial government to stop monitoring of doctors working in rural areas by retired armymen, saying it was too humiliating.

Talking to doctors, he said, the working conditions in rural areas were already bad and this monitoring mechanism was adding to the agonies of the doctors opting to serve there.

“It is humiliating for doctors to be monitored by JCOs and NCOs,” he added. He stressed that the situation was giving rise to anti-army feelings among the doctors’ community.

Dr Randhawa urged Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi to honour his commitments with the doctors regarding their regularisation and promotions.—Staff Reporter
