KARACHI, June 3: A fine all-round performance by talented Ahmed Iqbal helped Zone-II Whites lift the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal Cricket Championship with a 38-run victory over Zone-IV Whites at the PCB Regional Academy Ground here on Saturday.

Batting first in the final, Zone-II Whites reached 222 for seven in their 50 overs. Abdul Jabbar struck nine fours and one six in making 85. Skipper Ali Asad (42, five fours) and Ahmed Iqbal (38, six fours) were the notable run-getters.

Ahmed Iqbal then captured five for 60 with his slow left-armers as Zone-IV Whites were dismissed for 184 in the 46th over. The main scorers were captain Ali Jawad (63, eight fours) and Shahzaib Hasan (47, six fours), who added 108 for the opening wicket.

At the conclusion, Ahmed Iqbal was declared Man-of-the-Match. Shahzaib Hasan was adjudged tournament’s best batsman while the best bowler award went to Faraz Ahmed. Pace bowler Zohaib Shera received a special prize.
