MIRPURKHAS June 3: Increasing encroachments in the city have made its main roads and bazaars more congested, creating problems for vehicular traffic and pedestrians.
The Mirpurkhas taluka municipal administration and the district government have failed to control growing encroachments in the fourth largest city of Sindh.
Some time ago, encroachments were removed from M. A. Jinnah Road, Umerkot road and bazaars and roads of Satellite Town under the supervision of an army monitoring team. However, people enjoying support of political parties and representatives of local bodies have again encroached upon the main roads, streets and main bazaars.
Scores of pushcarts can be seen at the main Market Chowk, Mirwah Road, Khisak Pura, Anaj Market road etc. Vendors have established businesses at Mirwah Road, M. A. Jinnah Road and outside the Municipal Shopping Centre.
Some pushcart owners told Dawn that the police had allowed their push carts at the main roads against payment of bribe. Citizens have called upon the taluka municipal administration and the district government to remove encroachments.
