ISLAMABAD, May 31: At least 2,000 personnel of law enforcement agencies will be deployed in an around Faisal Mosque on Friday where more then 200,000 people are expected to offer Friday Prayers led by Imam-i-Kaaba Shaikh Abdur Rehman Al-Sudais.

Talking to Dawn Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Chaudhry Mohammad Ali said that about 1,000 personnel of rangers would be deployed at Margalla Hills.

Besides ministers and Muslim countries diplomats, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was also expected to attend the Friday prayers, he said.

He said that the rangers and the personnel of law enforcement agencies, including local police would take control of the area during night.

Police, fire-brigade department, bomb disposal and capital administration have been put on alert, he said.

Teams of doctors and paramedical staff would also be deployed to provide medical cover in case of any emergency, he said, adding that more than 50 doctors and paramedic from Capital Development Authority, Directorate of Health and District Health officer were included in the teams.

The DC said 10 ambulances and fire engines would be on standby.

He said children below seven were not allowed to enter the mosque, and requested the parents to follow the instructions.

He asked the people to reach the mosque at 11:00 am to avoid any difficulties. “The gates of the mosque will close after start of VIP movement,” he said.

Talking to Dawn Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Zafar Iqbal said the services of rangers, Punjab police and elite force would be hired.

He said that thousands of Islamabad police personnel would be engaged for the security of Faisal Mosque and Bari Imam Shrine on Friday.

Twenty-six walk through gates will be installed around the mosque and police would carry out physical search to avoid any untoward incident.

The sources said that traffic police have divided the parking area in three lots and deployed 200 police personnel for the convenience of the public.

The VIPs and government officials are allowed to park their vehicles at the west side of the mosque.
