MANSEHRA, May 28: The body of an NGO worker was found in Harayala village on Monday. Relatives identified the victim as Mohammad Wajid, who worked for the birth registration campaign.

Unidentified assailants reportedly opened fire on Mr Wajid as he was going home on Sunday night. Officials say he must have died on the spot.

Residents of the area and relatives of the deceased blocked the Karakoram Highway by placing the body on it.

They raised slogans against the government and police for a worsening law and order situation.

The road was opened to traffic following assurances by police high-ups that the murderers will be apprehended within 24 hours.

Victim’s father Ghulam Rabbani lodged an FIR, stating that his family had no enmity with anyone.
