HYDERABAD, May 28: Paying tribute to late Dr Khan Mohammad Panhwar, founder of Sindh University’s mass communication department and a social worker, speakers at his eighth death anniversary programme said on Sunday night that Dr Panhwar's mission was to reform villages of Sindh.

They said that Dr Panhwar played a vital role in promotion of education in Sindh, particularly among girls, through Sindh Goth Sudhar Sangat and motivated people of remote areas to send their children to schools.

The anniversary gathering was organised at Dr N. A. Baloch hall of the Sindhi Language Authority by Dr Khan Mohammad Panhwar Trust in collaboration with the Sindh University Teachers Association.

Vice Chancellor, Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, said that Dr Panhwar was a great lover of Sindh and a man of commitment and determination.

He announced that main road of the Sindh University residential colony would be named after Dr Panhwar and urged philanthropists and people from different walks of life to help the university through sponsorship to set up a chair in the name of Dr Panhwar.

Noted intellectual Ghulam Rabbani Agro said that Dr Panhwar belonged to a poor family and tirelessly worked for all his life to ameliorate the lot of the poor. Former secretary local government, Agha Shahabuddin, sociologist and short story writer Dr Tanvir Junejo, Dr Anwar Almani, Dr Iqbal Panhwar, Professor Badar Soomro, Sikandar Memon and Dr Mehrunnisa Larik also spoke on the occasion.
