LAHORE, May 27: An eight-member Pakistan table tennis team comprising four men and as many women will leave for Jaipur, India via Wagha border on Monday to participate in the Commonwealth table tennis championship to be held there from May 30 to June 5.

The male members of the team are Aasim Qureshi, Kashif Razzaq, Saleem Abbas and Awais.

The females comprise Saadia Malik, Saadia Yasin, Ayesha Iqbal and Ghalia Rasheed.

The Pakistan Table Tennis Federation organised a special function in honour of the selected team at the Wapda Sports Complex on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, captain Asim Qureshi said he would try to improve Pakistan position from 11, which it obtained in the last Commonwealth Games held in Australia last year. He said Pakistan grabbed the position among 55 participating countries and hopefully the team would come back with more encouraging results.

Saadia Malik was also hopeful for better results from the competitions.
