KHAAR, May 23: Tribal elders and Agency councillors renewed their pledge on Wednesday to work for peace in the Bajaur Agency, and ensure the safety of government installations.

Elected representatives, prominent Mamond elders and ulema had gathered at the opening ceremony of a new tehsil, Warr, in the Mamond sub-division. The ceremony was attended, amongst others, by MNA Maulana Mohammad Sadiq, Senator Maulana Abdur Rashid, tribal elders Malik Gul Mahmood and Malik Fazal Mabood, Political Agent (PA) Shakil Qadir and Assistant Political Agents (APA) Khaar Arshad Navid and Nawagai Mohammad Jamil.

The speakers reiterated that Bajaur tribesmen would stand by their pledge and cooperate with the political administration to restore peace in the area, adding that the law and order situation had improved after the tribal people had agreed to keep an eye on criminal activities in the Agency. They said that the tribesmen would work shoulder to shoulder with the administration to ensure the completion of all development schemes.
