LAHORE, May 20: Pakistan will take part in South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship 2007 which will be held in Male and Sri Lanka from Dec 10 to 22.

The South Asian Football Federation in a meeting held in New Delhi, decided to have the opening ceremony in Male while the closing ceremony along with the tournament final in Colombo. Therefore, group matches that involve Maldives will be played in National Stadium, Male' and group matches involving Sri Lanka will be played in Sugathadha Stadium, Colombo.

However, according to Football Association of Maldives (FAM), they are trying to bring the closing ceremony to Male.

"Right now it has been agreed to have the opening ceremony in Male but we want to be the host of closing ceremony," FAM Vice President Abdul Hameed Abdul Ghafoor said.
