MURREE, May 17: Town nazim Sardar Saleem Khan on Thursday announced that four vocational training institutes would be set up in Murree town soon. He was speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony of Vocational Training Institute, Tapa Kair, where 106 girl students completed eight-month courses in computer, tailoring and embroidery.

The students were also given Rs5,000 each to purchase machines.

Brig (retired) Anwar Ahmad, chairman board of management Vocational Training Rawalpindi was also present.

The nazim also announced a grant of Rs400,000 for the construction of a road to the institute and Rs100,000 for its water supply.

Girl students of the institute presented a number of programmes including scripts, tableaus and national songs on the occasion.

The institute was established about three years ago and so far 250 girl students have been imparted training in the institute.

A notable of the area, Haji Gulzar Abbasi provided a part of his house for the institute besides providing other facilities.

Such vocational institutes are provided financial assistance from the Zakat funds by the Punjab government.

Every student is provided with Rs500 monthly stipend and Rs1,700 are spent on the material used by each student. Uniform and other facilities are also provided by the institute.
