QUETTA, May 16: The Inspector-General of Police, Balochistan, Tariq Masood Khosa, has claimed that police have succeeded in curbing subversive and terrorist activities in the province and busting many gangs of saboteurs and criminals.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said over the past four months, there had been a sharp decline in acts of sabotage and terrorism. He said that 120 incidents of sabotage and terrorism had been reported this year, compared to 176 in the first four months of the last year.

He said that 72 people had been killed in subversive and terrorist activities last year and 43 people during the same period this year. “It is 65th day today that no rocket has been fired in Quetta," he claimed.

He said police had arrested the gang involved in killing non-local people and its members were under investigation and their names would soon be made public.
