The Lakki Marwat police said that Munawar Khan, his nephew Inamullah, driver Nadir Khan and Hanifullah were headed for Lakki city in their car (BU-1070). They were supposed to appear in the court of the district and sessions judge for confirmation of their bail before arrest application.

Their rivals, Inamullah and Rehmatullah, residents of Ghaznikhel, and Syed Rasool Bhetanni, resident of Umar Adda, Tank district, allegedly opened fire on the car, killing Munawar, Inamullah and Nadir on the spot and injuring Hanifullah.

Later, District Police Officer Abdul Rashid Khan told journalists that a joint party of the police, Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Frontier Constabulary led by DSP Lakki Ashraf Zaman and SHO Usman Ghani confronted the accused near Paharkhel Thall and ordered them to surrender but instead they opened fire on the police.
