QUETTA, May 9: A powerful bomb exploded near the home of the provincial livestock minister in the railway housing society here on Wednesday night. The bomb disposal squad defused another bomb in the same area.

“The bomb was planted near a wall of the Quaid Public School, just 15 yards away from the house of Livestock Minister Mir Abdul Qadoos Bizenjo,” a resident of the area told Dawn.

Police said that windowpanes of minister’s and nearby houses were smashed and a portion of the wall of the school were damaged in the blast. However, no casualty was reported.

“We have found another bomb in the same locality,” SSP City Qazi Abdul Wahid said, adding that it was a locally-made one-kg bomb.

The minister and his family were not present in the house at the time of the blast.

It was the second bomb blast near the residence of the provincial minister.
