Basketball: Dow, ZMU in semis

KARACHI, May 7: The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and the Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU) have completed the semi-final frame in the sixth AKU Inter-university basketball tournament by winning their respective matches at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium on Sunday.

The Baqai Medical University and the Jinnah Medical & Dental College have already qualified for the semi-finals.

The DUHS defeated the Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine 53-46 courtesy of Fahad Ahmed who scored 22 points.

Asghar Hayat (22) performed superbly for the Altamash Institute.

In the other match, Zafar Ishaq (16) and Hawad Chaudhry (11) were main contributors in the Ziauddin University’s 45-40 win over the Greenwich University.

Ali Ahmed scored 19 points but failed to save his team from the defeat.—Agencies
