PESHAWAR, May 7: The district government of Peshawar has submitted a demand for grant of Rs905 million needed for completion of different development projects in the city.

District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali presented the demand during a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Health Inayatullah Khan, said a press release issued here on Monday.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the difficulties faced by the district government vis-a-vis construction of roads, purchase of equipment for cleaning the drainage system, construction of a hospital on the site of the old G.T.S. bus stand and erection of a fence on the Hazar Khwani canal.

Those who attended the meeting decided to include the development projects in the budget for fiscal year 2007-08. The meeting approved a proposal for purchasing two fire engines and decided that purchase of mechanical sweepers be included in the next Annual Development Plan.

The meeting also approved the erection of a fence on the Hazar Khwani canal for providing protection to people including schoolchildren.—APP
