ISLAMABAD, May 5: A six-member Bangaldeshi educationists headed by Chittagong university vice-chancellor Prof M Badehul Alam visited Allama Iqbal Open University on Saturday.

The members of the delegation were Prof Dr M. Altaf Hussain, Vice-Chancellor, Rajshahi University, Dr Mohammad Nazar-ul-Islam, Dr Begum Asima Siddiqui, Dr Rashida Khanum and Dr M. Imad-ul-Haq.

Exchanging views with Prof. Dr. Mehmnood-ul-Hassan Butt, Vice-Chancellor of the AIOU, deans of faculties, officers and teachers of AIOU, Chittagong university VC Prof M Badehul Alam said the AIOU was a model university as it completes each task within time period and move forward according to academic calendar.

Prof Dr M. Altaf Hussain, Vice-Chancellor, Rajshahi University said that educationists from Bangladesh came to get information about research, courses and educational programmes of the renowned Universities in Pakistan. He stressed the need of exchange of visits of the teachers and students delegation of the two countries.

On the occasion, AIOU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mehmood-ul- Hassan Butt said that AIOU with its four faculties and 35 academic sections, offers admissions twice in a year from Matric to Ph.D level courses. He said the annual enrolment of the university is about 10,0000 and till now about 1150000 students got their certificates, degrees and diplomas from this mega university.

At the end, the delegation watched introductory documentary film of the university and visited the Radio/TV studios, printing press and book warehouse of the university.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Academy of Letters chairman Iftikhar Arif extended all possible cooperation to Bangladeshi educationists during their visit to PAL.

He briefed the delegation about the aims and objectives of the PAL and presented a set of the Academy’s publications to Prof Badehul Alam and Prof Altaf Hussain. — A Reporter
