THATTA, May 5: A court has issued arrest warrants for People’s Party Parliamentarians’ MPA Humera Alwani and four party activists and declared them absconders in a case registered three years ago.

The court acquitted 13 others in the same case for lack of evidence.

As per prosecution the accused with the workers of the Indus Jute Mill, Dhabi, blocked the National Highway to pressurize the authorities to accept the laborers’ demands, including reinstatement of sacked workers and facilities for mill workers according to labor laws.

The blockade resulted in suspension of vehicular traffic on the highway. Speeches were delivered instigating hatred against the mill administration and the government.

Due to lack of evidence, the court of Civil Judge, Gharry, Ashram Kawaka, on Friday acquitted 13 accused, most of them mill workers, and declared MPA Alana, Guam Resold Bhatt, Liquate Candia and two others as proclaimed absconders due to their continued absence from the court on hearing dates.
