SHEIKHUPURA, May 3: As many as 16 PML-N activists were arrested by the city division police on Thursday evening ahead of lawyers reception for the Chief Justice of Pakistan tomorrow.

The activists had gathered at the residence of ex-MPA Mian Javed Latif to listen to a telephonic address by Mian Nawaz Sharif from Dubai. A heavy contingent of police surrounded Latif’s residence and took into custody 16 party workers.

A large number of others managed their escape during the raid. The names of the arrested could not be ascertained.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Three political leaders were arrested on Thursday.

They include MMA’s district general secretary advocate Mian Abdul Basit, JI leader advocate Mian Shoaib Muhammad and PML-N leader advocate Mian Afzal Yaqub (also UC 56 nazim).

Police also raided the houses of PML-N leaders Amjad Ali Javed and Rana Anwar but could not find them.
