Cultivation of paddy crops

Published February 28, 2002

BADIN, Feb 27: The Board of Revenue (land utilization), Government of Sindh, has imposed a ban on the cultivation of paddy crops during the current year in the areas of the left bank of the Indus River.

The DCO and EDO (Revenue), Badin, have been directed to get the government notification implemented.

The entire Badin District falls under the command area of the left bank of the Indus River.

It may be mentioned here that more than 25,000 acres have always been brought under cultivation of paddy crops. Last year the crops were cultivated on 2,100 acres.

The ban has been imposed due to the shortage of water in Sindh, specially in low-lying areas.
