KHAIRPUR, Feb 27: The Faiz Ganj police have booked 21 growers in two separate cases of water theft.

The sub-engineer, Irrigation, Faiz Ganj, lodged an FIR against some growers under the Irrigation Act for stealing irrigation water.

Another FIR was lodged by a Darogha at the same police station against growers for stealing water.

Twenty-one growers including Hussain Bux Shar, Abdul Hakeem, and M. Din Lashari were alleged of stealing irrigation water from Faiz Ganj Wah and Rattar Wah.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the growers of Faiz Ganj Taluka held a protest and termed the very act as a “drama of irrigation department officials”, and added that the growers were innocent.

They alleged that irrigation officials had sold irrigation water to the influential landlords.

According to the growers there was no water in any waterway of the taluka since the last four months as the irrigation staff did not handle it properly.

TWO HELD: The Sorah police claimed to have raided the Khawand Dino Mallah village and arrested two people, Chatto Mallah and Dilbar Mallah, for possessing cannabis on Monday.

HOUSES GUTTED: Some 25 houses of labourers and peasants, belonging to Kolhis in the Katcha area near the river, Kingri Taluka, were reduced to ashes on Tuesday night.

TWO INJURED: At least two people were injured the other day in a clash at a cattle pen in Korki Hajani, Thari Mirwah Taluka.

A man, Dhani Bux Mari, attacked and injured two men, Dil Murad Domki and Samidar Domki, with an axe. Both were admitted to the Thari Mirwah hospital.

Meanwhile, Domki tribesmen told newsmen at the Thari Mirwah Press Club that the police were not registering their case. They asked the district police officer, Khairpur, for help.
