KHAIRPUR, April 30: Protesting the highhandedness of the Sukkur police, three women along with their children staged a demonstration outside press club here on Monday and also observed a hunger strike on court road on Monday.

The women, Sharifan, Allah Wasai, Naseeban and Muradan, told journalists that Sukkur police had kept one Allah Wadhayo and his son Khalid alias Khalil incommunicado after their arrest from Pir Bux Rajpar village, Thari Mirwah taluka on April 8.

They alleged that the police also took away some households and cash and harassed the women during the raid.

They further said that both the arrested men have illegally been detained as the police were not bringing their arrest on record.

They apprehended that the Sukkur police wanted to implicate the arrested men in fabricated cases.

KILLED: One person was gunned down and two others were injured by four armed men.

Reports reaching here said that one 40-year-old Soobal Khan Rind was gunned down by armed men in Panj Hatti area of Khairpur city in the jurisdiction of police station A-section.

Whereas Lal Dino Mirbahar and Noor Ahmed Gondal were injured in the firing.

The motive behind the incident is said to be an old enmity.

The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem from the Civil Hospital.

The A-section police have arrested one injured Noor Ahmed for interrogation.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.
