KHAIRPUR, April 27: The Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa issues have been deliberately created by the government to divert attention of the political parties and people from the ‘suspension’ of the chief justice of Pakistan but it has failed, alleged Sindh Sagar Party chairman Maulana Azizullah Bohio.

Talking to journalists here on Friday, he said the government wanted to make religious groups/organisations stronger than the political parties to jeopardise political system.

Lal Masjid, Jamia Hafsa and other Madressahs were being used for political purpose as the government was directly or indirectly supporting them for different purposes, he said. He said the Tableeghi Jamaat was one of the strongest forces in the country as ‘the Sindh chief minister was allowed to continue on its request.’

He said the leadership of nationalist parties of Sindh was pro-federal government and they enjoyed influence in Islamabad.

He said tribal disputes in Sindh had reached at a peak where the feudal lords of Sindh, whether in government or not, were part of these feuds. He said the group which was on top in Sindh was of feudal lords.

Referring to deal between the PPP and the government, he said the party would accept the deal even at the lowest of government options as it had lost political force, adding it will accept General Musharraf as president in uniform.

He said law and order situation in Sindh had gone worst but political and nationalist parties did not take a stand against the situation.
