KASUR, April 24: A 15-member delegation of traders from Bhai Phero called on the Kasur district police officer at his office on Wednesday and showed their concern over the rising lawlessness in the area.
The delegation was led by Sheikh Muhammad Munsha and included Dr Khalid Javid, Malik Abdul Hafiz, Chaudhry Kamal Din and Phool Muhammad Joya.
Sheikh Munsha told the DPO that proclaimed offenders Shahzad Jutt and Nadeem along with their 20 accomplices had grabbed a godown owned by Saeed Mutkee three days back and used to open fire in the bazaar to harass the people. He said the accused were supported by some political figures.
Later, Munsha said, the accused got a fake case registered against Mutkee’s family members and were threatening them with dire consequences.
The DPO ordered the SHO concerned to submit a report within a day and assured the traders that the police would take action against the accused.
COLLISION: At least 13 passengers were injured seriously in a collision between two speeding vans here on Wednesday on Lahore-Kasur Road.
Reports said a Lahore-bound van (LWE-1718) collided with another van coming from the opposite direction. As a result of which 13 passengers, including two women and a child, were injured and rushed to DHQ hospital.
Saddar police are investigating.
