LAHORE, April 22: JUI chief and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday urged India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue.

He was addressing party workers and leaders at Wagha before leaving for India on a six-day visit.

He said the JUI was not against the Pakistan-India dialogue. "The peace process must move forward."

"The Kashmir solution is inventible for a durable peace in South Asia," Maulana Fazl said, adding that lingering issues could be solved through talks.

The opposition leader stressed the need for forming a grand alliance to block the way of undemocratic forces and said he would discuss issues, including that of Kashmir, with the Indian leadership.—Online

Our Correspondent adds: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who left for India on Sunday, will participate in a seminar being held in New Delhi on April 24. It is being organised in memory of the late Maulana Asad Ahmad Madni, the son of Maulana Husain Ahmad Madni who had turned the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind into a politico-religious party and took a definite stand on the demand of Pakistan.

According to JUI information-secretary Riaz Durrani, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other leaders of India and other countries will attend the seminar.
