GUJRANWALA, April 22: Punjab IGP Chaudhry Ahmed Naseem has claimed that the crime situation in the province is under control while the police system is being revamped to eliminate street crime.

Talking to Dawn in Ghakhhar Town on the occasion of a hockey tournament in which he was the chief guest, the IGP said that close-circuit cameras had been installed at important places and crowded areas.

He pointed out that kidnap for ransom cases and other heinous crimes were being detected with the help of expert police officers.

The IGP watched the final of the 15th All Punjab Ahmed Nadeem Memorial Tournament which was played between Ghakhhar and Faisalabad. The latter defeated the former by 1-4 goals. — Correspondent
