Gas supply to hospital suspended

SIALKOT, April 21: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Saturday disconnected supply to Pasrur THQ Civil Hospital after the April 17 explosion.

Sialkot SNGPL in-charge Muhammad Rizwan Mushtaq told newsmen that the supply had been suspended on the request of the hospital officials as they could not control the prolonged leakage.

He said the company staff thoroughly examined the internal system of Sui gas on Saturday and found leakage from 80 points, including male and female wards, stores and kitchen, owing to the alleged slackness of the hospital management.

Mr Mushtaq said the SNGPL was only responsible for checking of leakage at main point of the gas supply while controlling of leakage internally was responsibility of the hospital management.

Sialkot EDO (Health) Dr Javaid Umer and district officer Dr Javaid Warraich told newsmen that treatment and checking of indoor patients would remain suspended till the completion of the probe and reconstruction of damaged building of wards.
