LAHORE, April 19: The World Cup's Performance Evaluation Committee (PEC) left for Islamabad on Thursday on the last leg to hear out some more players and cricket experts to complete its report on the debacle.

The PEC headed by a former Test cricketer, Ijaz Butt, is likely to announce its finding about Pakistan’s poor performance in the 2007 World Cup by Tuesday.

The committee, which also visited Karachi to record statements of different players, held its last meeting at Lahore on Thursday. It heard three players Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Nazir and Rao Iftikhar Anjum.

"All the players offered their candid views about Pakistan's defeat in the World Cup and made some useful suggestions to uplift the standard of the domestic cricket," a spokesman of the committee said.

"Next meeting will be held at Islamabad on Friday. Test cricketers Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, former Test cricketer Col. (retd.) Naushad Ali and president Islamabad Cricket Association Shakil Sheikh will record their statements," the spokesman said.
