LAHORE, April 19: Six under-trial prisoners were injured in a scuffle ahead of case hearing at the District Courts in Lower Mall area here on Thursday.

Police said two groups led by Waheed Akram and Abdul Rauf had a brawl at the Camp Jail over a minor issue some days back, and hurled threats at each other.

On Thursday, when the members of the both groups were brought to the court for case hearing, along with other handcuffed prisoners, they again fell out, attacking each other with chairs.

Witnesses to the incident said a free-for-all ensued when Waheed used abusive language against Abdul Rauf and his fellows.

As a result, Waheed, Rauf, Najeebullah, Aamir Sharif, Latif alias Pappa and Khalil received minor injuries.

The police deployed at the lock-up intervened to end the scuffle. A heavy contingent of reserved police was also called to handle the situation.

The injured were rushed to the Mayo Hospital under tight security where they were provided necessary medical treatment and were later discharged.

The Lower Mall police registered a 324 case under PPC on the complaint of inspector (judicial) Syed Muhammad Sibtain.

STOLEN: A car was reportedly driven away from Model Town while two motorcycles were stolen from Samanabad and Muslim Town areas.

Four robbers snatched a car (LWE-709) in front of a house in Y-Block of Defence. However, the police denied the incident, saying they had not received any complaint.

ACCIDENT: An unidentified 35-year-old woman was run over by an oil tanker in the Bhati Gate area on Thursday.

Police said the woman, seemed to be insane, was crossing the road near a Wapda grid station when the accident took place.
