KARACHI, April 16: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where three ships to load, unload containers and rice were accommodated on berths at QICT and MPT, respectively, during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Berth occupancy remained at 80 per cent at the port where eight ships occupied berths to load, unload containers, wheat, cement, seeds, edible oil, chemicals and furnace oil during the report period.

The port handled cargo volume of 57,905 tons comprising of 43,708 tons imports and 14,197 tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,863 (Teus).

Three ships were at the outer anchorage namely Jupiter Applause (seeds); Dareen (cement) and MSC America (container).

Three ships - Fair Energy, CV Lugano and Berenice sailed out during the report period.
