LAHORE, April 15: A teenager and his four-year-old paternal cousin died after taking poison under mysterious circumstances in the Burki area on Sunday.

Police claimed that Irshad, 16, of Dhalla Tailian village, had been upset over his protracted illness. On Sunday, he took poison in his room and in the meantime, his cousin Rasheed came there and unintentionally consumed the same pills, police investigators claimed. Both were rushed to the General Hospital where they died.

In another incident, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide in Nishtar Colony.

Police said Nadia, daughter of labourer Baqir, and a resident of Komahan Road, was upset over her illness and was not recovering despite medical treatment. On Sunday, she confined herself in her room and consumed poison. She also died in LGH. — Staff Reporter
