KARACHI, April 13: Muhammad Khalid notched-up the match winning goal as Wapda retained hockey crown in the National Games against Army in the final at UBL Sports Complex astroturf on Friday.

Former junior international slammed the match-winner in 12th minute of the first session by converting a penalty corner with a powerful strike. PAF won the bronze medal when they beat host Sindh 3-1. PAF was enjoying 1-0 lead at breather. Forward Kashif Yaqoob, Haroon Ahmed netted the field goals while Waheed converted penalty stroke. Alay Hasan scored the consolation goal for Sindh.

Like their men, Wapda women continued their domination at Hockey Club of Pakistan with their fifth win in row in the six-team contest when they beat Railways 2-0. Saima Afzal and Uzma Lal slammed in one goal each for winners.

In the other round robin league matches of the day Sindh and Balochistan played 1-1 draw. Kulsum Mehr put Balochistan in front in 46th minute but Zakia drew level for the host team four minutes later.

Amna Mir slammed in the match-winning goal as Punjab defeated Higher Education Commission 1-0. -—APP
