QUETTA, April 12: Five people, one of them a security man, were killed and three others were injured in a gun-battle between security forces and Iranian outlaws near Mand area along the Pakistan-Iran border on Thursday morning.

Official sources said that Frontier Corps and Anti-Terrorist Force personnel had been sent to Tlim area of Mand to help police who were conducting an operation against the outlaws.

When the security personnel reached the place, the foreigners opened fire on them, killing Sobedar Hayatullah Khan. A driver was injured in the attack.

The incident was followed by an exchange of fire in which rockets, mortars and machine-guns were used.

“Four Iranian outlaws were killed in the fighting and FC arrested two others who had been injured,” said an official.

He said a hideout of the outlaws was destroyed and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including rocket-launchers, rockets, mortar shells, AK-47 rifles and machine-guns, were seized during the operation.

Sources said the outlaws were wanted by the Iranian government for involvement in subversive activities.
