LANDI KOTAL, April 11: A student of Class VI was set free by kidnappers on Wednesday. Shakar Khan, a student of Class VI in Al-Junaid Public School, was kidnapped in the first week of March while returning from school.
The local administration had arrested 11 people of the Bazaar Zakhakhel tribe under the Collective Territorial Responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.
A jirga was recently constituted to help release the student without payment of ransom. On Wednesday morning, Shakar Khan was dropped near his house by his captors after the administration released nine arrested men of Bazaar Zakhakhel tribe upon the recommendation of the jirga.
HOUSE DEMOLISHED: Activists of Lashkar-i-Islam on Wednesday set on fire two houses of their opponents in the Qamarkhel area.
The houses belonged to Ansaarul Islam supporters Mian Khan and Abdur Raziq.
The two were issued notices to vacate their houses after their refusal to abandon opposition to Lashkar-i-Islam.
