KARACHI, April 10: Speakers at a demonstration on Tuesday condemning the murder of a fisherman demanded that his murderers be arrested immediately.

The protest was organised jointly by the Mahigir Samaji Sangat and Shabab-i-Milli at a fishing village, Rehri Goth. The speakers warned that if the murderers were not arrested they would stage demonstrations at the Governor’s as well as Chief Minister’s houses.

The speakers– MMA Sindh chief Asadullah Bhutto, Yunus Khaskheli, Khair Mohammad Tunio, Yusuf Muneer, Ruqayya Khaskheli and others–condemning the fisheries department officials said that these officials tortured the fishermen, Hamza, to death who refused to pay them extortion money.

They said that the government should provide protection to the fishermen from the corrupt fisheries officials and the corrupt officials be taken to task and punished according to the law.

The protesters also chanted slogans in support of their demands.

They also marched through various streets in Rehri Goth and reached Ibrahim Haidery Road where the rally was held.
