KARACHI, April 9: A single bench of the High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim on Monday rejected an acquittal appeal but reduced the punishment awarded to an accused in a dacoity case.

Appellant Muhammad Iqbal challenged a verdict of the ADJ (West) given on June 17, 2004, awarding him to suffer imprisonment for seven years in a dacoity case.

The appellant was convicted in the dacoity case lodged with the Korangi police on April 27, 2003.

After hearing arguments, the bench dismissed his appeal and modified the punishment from seven to five years imprisonment.—APP
