JACOBABAD, April 8: Eight-year-old Om Parkash was released by his captors on Sunday after more than three weeks in captivity. The family insisted that no ransom had been paid.
The boy’s father, Kishan Das, denied he had paid any ransom for son’s release and said that the DPO’s efforts for getting son back bore fruits.
The DPO told journalists that the kidnappers released the boy in the jurisdiction of Shikarpur. Police brought Om Parkash to his home and then the DPO brought him to Panchayati hall where thousands of people including Hindu and Muslims rushed to catch a glimpse of the Om Prakash.
Bhagwandas, the boy’s uncle, distributed sweets among people and told them that no ransom had been paid to the bandits.
