LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), April 7: At least three people were injured and eight houses demolished in fresh clashes between the Ansaar-ul-Islam and Lashkar-i-Islam militant groups in Tirah on Saturday.

Ansaar-ul-Islam leader Maulana Mustmin told Dawn that his group attacked their opponents in retaliation for the April 1 attack on their centre in Bara’s Arjali Nadi area.

Ansaar supporters had first issued a warning to their rivals in Sipah’s Nangrosa village to vacate their houses. But on their refusal, the Ansaar men set at least eight of their houses on fire.

It is learnt that the Amir of Lashkar-i-Islam, Mangal Bagh, had reached Nangrosa to assist his men.

Mustmin confirmed that at least three of his men had suffered injuries in the clashes.
