‘Robber’ killed

LAHORE, April 6: Police claimed on Friday to have killed a robber in an encounter in Gulshan Iqbal. Police said three armed men stopped Shahbaz in Karim Block and deprived him of cash and a cell phone, escaping on a motorcycle.

Shahbaz informed the police who chased the robbers and surrounded them near Kamran Block. The robbers opened fire on the police who retaliated as a result of which one of the robbers was injured. The other two made good their escape.

The injured, identified as Maqbool of Sheikhupura, died on way to hospital. —Staff Reporter
