LARKANA, April 4: A court official found eight people illegally detained at the Shahdadkot police station police station after a surprise raid on Wednesday. The district and sessions judge of Qambar-Shahdadkot appointed Liaquat Ali Sangi as raid commissioner with directions to locate two arrested persons after Abdul Karim Chandio informed the court that the SHO of Shahdadkot police station had arrested his father Manzoor Chandio and cousin Ghulam Hussain three days ago without any reason.

He told the court that the police were subjecting his relatives to torture despite the fact that they were not involved in any crime.

The raid commissioner not only found the two men but also six more Abdul Wahid Magsi, Ahsan Seelro, Shaman Soomro, Ahmed Nawaz Magsi, Liaquat Ali and Taj Muhammed Magsi kept in habeas corpus in the lock-up.

The SHO Iqbal Tunio failed to produce any documents validating the arrests when the raid commissioner asked him. Besides, there was no entry made in the roznamcha about the arrests, Mr Sangi said and added that he then ordered release of all the eight persons and asked the SHO to appear in court on Thursday.
