GUJAR KHAN, April 3: Cellphone users have said they are continuously suffering poor connectivity in the Gujar Khan area.

They said cellphone companies had failed to improve their services and their connectivity remained substandard. At many times, attempts to call a cellphone number prove abortive and a notice of “network is busy” is displayed at the screen much to the disappointment of the callers.

Some times, the answering machine of the company continues to assert that ‘the number you have dialled is not answering at the moment, please try later’ despite the fact that the other number is lying free in front of the caller.

The repeated disconnection and return of the echoing voice of the caller is another common problem. The users said the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was turning a deaf ear to their complaints.

They urged the federal minister for telecommunication to order improvement in the service standard of the cellphone network.

10 held for bootlegging, illegal arms: The police arrested 10 persons for their involvement in various crimes, including possession of illicit arms, bootlegging and drug peddling, in the jurisdiction of Jatli, Gujar Khan and Mandra police stations.
