ISLAMABAD, March 31: Commodore Tayyab Ali Dogar has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect, it was notified by the Defence Ministry on Saturday.

Presently serving as Assistant Chief of Naval Staf (Operations) at Naval Headquarters Islamabad, Admiral Dogar got commission in the operations branch of navy in June 1976. He served on various operational and staf appointments, including navigation officer, weapons officer and executive officer of submarines.

He has to his credit command of two submarines. He has also served staff officer (submarines) to commander Pakistan fleet and staf officer (operations) to commander submarines. Key appointments at Naval headquarters include Deputy Director (Plans), Director Submarines (Operations) and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Submarine acquisition).—A Reporter
