KARACHI, March 20: Former Balochistan chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Tuesday expressed concern over the disappearance of 14 people who were ‘picked up’ when he was arrested and demanded information about them.

Balochistan National Party leaders Maharullah Mengal and Hameed Sajna, who met the BNP-M leader in central prison during the hearing of his case, quoted Sardar Mengal as saying that despite the passage of over four months, the government was not acknowledging their detention.

The next hearing of Sardar Mengal’s case will be held on April 10.

According to a statement issued by the BNP-M leaders, Sardar Mengal said that if the 14 men were wanted in any investigations, they should be formally arrested and tried in an open court and relatives and lawyers should be allowed to meet them.
