MIRPURKHAS, March 19: The speakers at a seminar here on Sunday alleged that Hindus in Sindh were being forced to leave the country by some religious extremists but added that people had always foiled such attempts.

The seminar was held under the aegis of Council for All Under Privileged Segments Eminence (CAUSE) on the topic of “What is the future of minorities in the country”.

President District Bar Association Tharparkar, Deedar Baloch said that minorities have equal rights under the constitution but they were deprived of their rights as no authority was implementing the constitution.

He deplored that hence, minorities have practically no rights in the country as a result sense of deprivation prevailed among them.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of CAUSE, Asghar Narejo, said that incidents of execution of Hindus after kidnapping has increased in Sindh.

Kanji Ranomal Bheel, coordinator of core group HRCP Mirpurkhas, regretted that government officials and agencies were allegedly forcing the minorities living in towns and villages near the borders to pay extortion money.

Bhooro Kolhi Advocate accused that a sense of insecurity prevailed among the minorities due to atrocities of the government officials.

Social worker Paul Janson alleged that minorities were being targeted by religious extremists throughout country. He stressed the need to end the extremism in the society. Zahoor Leghari, Khair Mohammad Narejo, Ishaque Narejo, Akbar Panhwar, Ghulam Qadir Mirani and Zeeshan Leghari also spoke.
