GUJRANWALA, March 12: Two kids were killed while half a dozen other family members sustained serious injuries when the roof of their house collapsed on them during rain in Ahmad Nagar village on Monday.

Reports said that Shabbir Ahmed’s son Javed (4) and daughter Misbah (6) died instantly while other family members — Pervaiz, Sajjad, Kashif, Sajida Bibi, Safia Bibi and Allah Rakha suffered injuries. The area people rushed the injured to the local DHQ hospital in critical condition.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead while three others were injured in an exchange of fire between two rival groups in Wazirabad on Monday.

According to a report reaching here, some youths had quarrelled with each other during Basant festival in Chira locality. Later, their friends gathered them at an outhouse for mediation where they traded fire after an exchange of harsh words. As a result, Yasir Butt died on the spot while Adil, Nadim and Arif alias Goga Gujjar suffered bullet wounds. They were shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, in serious condition.

Police have registered a case against both groups and are investigating.

STREET CRIME: The street crime graph cannot be brought down without adopting a solid strategy and arresting criminals with the help of people.

Additional IG and CPO Asif Nawaz Warraich said this while speaking at a meeting of senior police officers here on Monday.

The CPO urged the police officers to register cases without any delay while innocent people should not be arrested before a thorough investigation.

He warned that the SHO and circle officer would be held responsible for registering false cases.

DIG (Operations) Khadim Hussain Bhatti said that illegal confinement of people or their killing after torture would not be tolerated.

TORTURED TO DEATH: The mother of three minor children was tortured to death by unidentified assailants in Nandipur Aroop town on Monday.

Reports said that deceased Rehana Kauser was alone when unidentified accused entered her house. After torturing her to death, the intruders hanged her with a ceiling fan and escaped.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

ADJOURNED: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 adjourned the hearing of the murder case of Punjab minister Zille Huma till Wednesday owing to the boycott of courts by lawyers here on Monday.
